In Christ - I am valued by God

I am valued by God...

Matthew 10:29-31 Are not two sparrows sold for a penny? Yet not one of them will fall to the ground apart from the will of your Father. And even the very hairs of your head are all numbered.  So don't be afraid; you are worth more than many sparrows.

Daily Word – Jack Graham – May 2, 2011

“I remember when I was young, walking down a street in Fort Worth, Texas where I was raised. And in the midst of all of those large buildings I noticed, lying on the ground, a little sparrow. Apparently that sparrow had gotten confused and flew smack-dab into the side of one of those buildings and fell right to the ground.

“And as I looked at that little bird, I realized that, from the beginning of time, God knew the very minute of the very hour when that little sparrow would fall.

“God has a detailed plan for every life. Not just those who are in the clergy or those who serve in churches. But whether you’re a butcher, a baker, or a candlestick maker, God has a plan for your life that’s so intricate that He even numbers the hairs of your head. The God who knows when every sparrow falls from the sky knows about you and works in you.

“And if God cares about birds, He cares more about believers. So never forget that your God is a personal God. He’s not out there way off somewhere, but He’s here, He’s now, and He’s with you.

“GOD KNOWS YOU AND LOVES YOU SO MUCH THAT EVEN THE HAIRS OF YOUR HEAD ARE NUMBERED. SO REMEMBER THAT HE’S ALWAYS NEAR YOU AND WILL NEVER LEAVE YOU!

I love feeding the birds in my neighborhood – partly because I love nature – but also because I know that God is watching those little birds as they bounce around picking up seeds and the other treats I put out for them.  They remind me daily of a God who cares – who has compassion – who has a plan.  They also remind me that He can be trusted to provide for all of my needs.  They don’t wake up in the morning and start worrying about whether I filled the birdfeeders last night – they assume that I did and they show up hungry!  They also don’t complain about what I provide – they eat the same food day in and day out – and they’re happy for it.  That’s a good reminder that I need to be content with what I have and not moan and groan because I don’t always get what I want – they want what they get.  OUR God is personal – not remote – not unfeeling. OUR God loves us – deeply – and eternally.  Just as He is watching over all the little birds in all the backyards on the planet – He is surely watching over His children – His chosen – His prized possessions!  You are special to Him!  He values you!  Rest in that knowledge!
